Lamar man arrested on multiple charges following Gulf Street pursuit

Friday morning just before 1 a.m. while responding to another call, an officer with the Lamar Police Department had a vehicle fail to yield to his emergency equipment. 

As the officer and the suspect vehicle traveled eastbound on 12th Street, the suspect vehicle accelerated to a high rate a speed becoming a danger to the public as he attempted to flee from the officer. 

The pursuit continued down Gulf behind the O’Sullivan's building. After finding a train sitting on the tracks, the suspect drove around the MFA building before he driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot near 17th and KK. 

With the help of deputies from the Barton County Sheriff’s Department the driver was taken into custody without further incident. 

Jake O. McIntyre (28) of Lamar was arrested for Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, Resisting Arrest, and Driving While Revoked, along with several other traffic charges. The investigation into further charges is on-going. These are only charges being sought. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
