On Monday January 29, 2018 the Joplin Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 11 S. Patterson at 2:01 AM.
The first arriving crew arrived on scene at 2:05 AM and reported a one-story single family dwelling with heavy fire showing from three sides of the residence.
First arriving crews were met by an occupant who informed the crews that his wife was still inside the residence. Crews entered the structure and removed from the residence 53-year-old Tamra Greenwell, who has since succumbed as a result of her injuries.
Fire crews re-entered the structure and began extinguishing the fire, bringing it under control at 2:40 AM, and completely extinguished it by 3:06AM. The residence sustained severe heat and smoke damage.
There were no injuries to firefighting crews.
The Fire Department responded with 7 apparatus and 17 personnel
The fire is currently under investigation by the Joplin Fire Marshal and Joplin Police Department.
