JPD pursuit of sports bike ends with broken leg, felony drug, vehicle theft charges, traffic citations

Yesterday at about 5 p.m. an officer attempted to stop a Kawasaki sports bike at C and Schifferdecker for not having license plates. 

The driver kept driving and when he tried to accelerate away he crashed at B and Cleveland after losing control. He was located and the motorcycle was found to be stolen out of Springfield. The driver was transported to the hospital for a broken leg. 

After he was released from the hospital he was arrested for resisting arrest, tampering with a motor vehicle, felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and five city warrants. He was also issued several traffic citations.
