Annie Moses Band's "Art of the Love Song" to be performed Feb. 10 at JHS Performing Arts Center

(From Connect2Culture)

Connect2Culture (C2C) will present Annie Moses Band’s “The Art of the Love Song” on Saturday, February 10, 7:30pm (doors open at 6:30pm) at Joplin High School’s Performing Arts Center (2104 N Indiana Ave, Joplin, MO 64804).

The Annie Moses Band’s performance will be the third and final installment of Connect2Culture’s inaugural performing arts series, Curtains Up (2017-2018).

The Annie Moses Band has been inspiring and entertaining audiences for over a decade, bringing their distinctive style of music across the nation and around the world. A captivating blend of folk and classical, the Annie Moses Band is a talented ensemble of songwriters, singers, and musicians, combining technical skill with exhilarating showmanship.

The Band's innovative sound has delighted audiences around the world—in record breaking numbers of airings on PBS and on stages as diverse as Carnegie Hall and the Grand Ole Opry. The members of the Band are also family.

Veteran composer, Bill Wolaver, weaves musical styles together into cinematic arrangements while the virtuosic siblings bring Juilliard-honed chops to Nashville-styled music-making.

The Annie Moses Band combines the best of beloved genres in a style that unifies audiences, young and old, classical connoisseurs and roots enthusiasts, jazz aficionados and bluegrass buffs. This is outstanding music.

The Art of the Love Song is old-school elegance in the mold of Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. The Band keeps a classical aesthetic in these archetypal love songs, while flavoring them with retro strings and gypsy-jazz violin. Nat King Cole’s velvet stringwork serves as a big inspiration as well.

The ultra-creative members of the Band plucked repertoire from the Great American Songbook of the ‘40s and ‘50s, and then borrowed from such soulful folk/rock songsmiths of the ‘60s and ‘70s as Don McLean, Paul Williams, and John Lennon. The Art of the Long Song is a tribute to the most treasured love songs of the last century. Be swept off your feet with the romance of forever!

Similar to Connect2Culture’s concert with David Phelps, students from Joplin High School will have the opportunity to perform live with the Annie Moses Band. Joplin High School’s Chamber Orchestra will perform a song with the Band and the Strolling Strings will entertain patrons in the lobby from 6:30–7:30pm. Tickets range from $20-$30 and can be purchased at connect2culture.com or by calling 1-800- 514-3849. Groups of 15-40 receive a 20% discount. Etix is the exclusive ticketing provider.
