As rumors begin to circulate about a possible threat at Webb City High School, we felt it necessary to try and get the facts of the situation out as soon as possible.
This morning a student reported to administration that he thought he overheard three other students discussing the possibility of a weapon in one their vehicles. He also reported having overheard them saying that they should “try and get it on Wednesday.”
The three students were identified and questioned by the administration and local law enforcement. All students and their parents were very cooperative and allowed their lockers, backpacks, and vehicles to be searched.
During the course of the investigation, it was found that they were actually talking about a graphics card that was in one of the student’s vehicles. Administration and law enforcement found there to be no threat to our students.
Although the rumor was not accurate, we appreciate the student making the report to our administrators. We feel that any perceived threat needs to be thoroughly investigated.
