Departing Joplin police officer: I am leaving for a financially sustainable future for my family

(From the Fraternal Order of Police Southwest Missouri Regional Lodge No. 27)

Today we say farewell to another member of the Joplin Police Department. This is Detective Ethan Rodgers and today marks his last day on the job as he has accepted a position to be a Police Officer in the city of Lenexa, Kansas.

Detectives Rodgers was hired by the Joplin Police Department in January of 2015 and attended the Missouri Southern State University Law Enforcement Academy.

After graduation, Officer Rodgers hit the streets of Joplin and excelled as a police officer for the agency.

Although he had left JPD for a short stint, he returned to JPD and eventually was selected to become a detective for the agency.

When asked about his decision to leave the City of Joplin, Detective Rodgers said “I am leaving the Joplin Police Department for a financially sustainable future for my family.”

Detective Rodgers, like so many others, had to make this tough decision because of the dire financial picture the City of Joplin faces. While we hate to see him go, we completely understand his decision and we thank him for his service to the citizens of Joplin.

Please join the Southwest Missouri Fraternal Order of Police Regional Lodge #27 and its members in wishing Detective Ethan Rodgers and his family the best of luck as they embark on a new journey in Lenexa.

  2. Time to move up to big league pay...but you wont be slopping up that gravy in Lenexa they will make you earn every penny...there will be no petty agenda like in Joplin,,,where you all are free to harass and take out your frustrations on any one you ever felt wronged by
