Autopsy report: Webb City's man death was a homicide, autopsy of suspected killer underway

The autopsy was completed on the victim in this case, Monte Little Jr. It is confirmed his death is a homicide. The autopsy for the deceased found in the vehicle is underway.

Update #1

The deceased victim in this case is Monte L. Little Jr, 19, Webb City, Missouri. He was killed at his place of employment, 2809 Santa Fe, which is a in home residential care facility.

The male who was found deceased in the vehicle fire at County Road 160 and Elm in Jasper County last night by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department is believed to be the suspect in Little’s homicide. Positive identification is pending the autopsy.

Autopsies on both have been scheduled for 9am tomorrow, July 25th in Kansas City, Missouri. No further updates are expected until tomorrow after the autopsy.

Original News Release

On July 23, 2018 at 8:14PM the Joplin Police Department was dispatched to 2809 Santa Fe for a call of an assault with an injured person. Officers arrived and located a deceased male on scene. Detectives were called to the scene to investigate.

A suspect and suspect vehicle was identified, and attempts began to locate both. The Jasper County Sheriff's Department was later dispatched to a vehicle fire in Jasper County on Elm Road near county road 160 The suspect vehicle in our homicide investigation was located on scene on fire. The Jasper County Sheriff's Department is handling that scene, but it is believed the suspect is no longer a threat.
The investigation is still on-going in this case. We aren't seeking any other suspects at this time.
