Details provided on accident that killed Joplin police officer and his wife

Emergency personnel were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at NW 100th and Highway 160, west of Columbus at 9:59 a.m. Friday morning.

The preliminary investigation conducted by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, indicates a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle was westbound on Highway 160 when a 2007 Pontiac passenger car pulled onto the highway and the two vehicles collided.

The operator of the motorcycle, 42-year-old David Brewer and his passenger, 41-year-old Stacey Brewer, both of Riverton, were wearing their helmets, but died due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the Pontiac, 20-year-old Cheyenne Hartman of Columbus, was not injured.
