On November 12, 2018 at approximately 7:40 a.m. the Barton County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a high-speed pursuit that traveled through Lamar at a high rate of speed.
The deputy first encountered the vehicle at approximately O Highway and 160 west of Lamar.
The vehicle traveled East on 160 until it reached the substation by Barton County Electric where it then turned and went back westbound on 160 highway.
The vehicle continued westbound until it turned around once again at a residential driveway (before J highway) and headed back eastbound on 160.
The deputy pursued the suspect vehicle into Lamar where he discontinued the pursuit at the railroad tracks on 12th Street by Lexington due to knowing the vehicle was headed into a school zone and that there would be heavy traffic.
The Sheriff is requesting that if anybody has any video of the vehicle driving past their business in Lamar if you can save that video we would appreciate it. If you witnessed the vehicle this morning we would like to get a statement from witnesses. The investigation is ongoing in this case.
The vehicle is described as a silver 4 door Pontiac vehicle with Kansas license plates.
This is approximately a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am.
