Winter weather advisory issued for Vernon, Bourbon counties, snow, freezing drizzle expected

...Snow is Expected Over Portions of Central Missouri Today...

.A strong area of low pressure will approach the region today
forcing a cold front to sweep through. Temperatures are expected
to drop into the 30s then 20s this afternoon and evening.

Northwest wind gusts could reach 45 to 50 mph as a band of snow
occurs over central Missouri. An inch of snow will be possible
over areas along and north of Highway 54.

There also could be a brief period of freezing drizzle this
afternoon and evening that could result in a glaze of icing on
elevated surfaces. The gusty winds and snow will result in
hazardous driving conditions as roads and reduced visibilities
occur.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO
MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of around one
  inch expected. Winds gusting as high as 45 to 50 mph. A brief
  period of freezing drizzle will also be possible and could
  result in a glaze of icing on elevated surfaces.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas and central and west
  central Missouri, generally along and north of the Highway 54
  corridor.

* WHEN...From 9 AM this morning to midnight CST tonight.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Gusty
  winds could bring down tree branches and reduce visibilities.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads
and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
