Jasper Police traffic stop results in arrest of Pittsburg residents on meth charges

On Monday, October 22nd, 2018 at 2:15 pm, a Jasper PD officer stopped a black GMC Yukon near the intersection of Thorn Rd. and I-49, in reference to a traffic violation.

Contact was made with the driver, Phillip Brooks of Pittsburg, Ks, and the front passenger, John Withrow also of Pittsburg, Ks.

Signs of suspicious activity and drug use were observed by the officer. The officer observed a syringe in plain view sticking out of Withrow’s pant pocket. After a further search of Withrow’s person amd the vehicle, baggies with a white crystal substance weighing a total of about 10 geams were found, as well as a weighing scale and several used syringes. The white crystal substance is suspected methamphetamine.

Both Withrow and Brooks were arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Brooks and Withrow are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
