Joplin Public Library will host a Chess Quick Tournament Saturday, December 1, 2018. The tournament will feature 4-Round Swiss Play. Sections offered will be:
A Rated Open, which requires a current United States Chess Federation (USCF) membership;
An Unrated Open, which is open to all players; and
An Unrated K-12 Open which is open to all players Kindergarten to 12th grade.
Unrated sections may be combined based on registration. All games played under US Chess tournament regulations. Round times will commence as follows:
Rated: 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., 3:30 p.m.
Unrated: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 noon, 2 p.m.
The fee for Rated Registration is $20. Unrated play is free to participants. Fifty percent (50%) of proceeds from tournament registration will purchase chess resources for the Chess Club at Joplin Public Library.
