Fire at USA Mattress in Joplin ruled accidental, caused closing of Range Line

On Monday, 20 May 2019, at 6:56 PM the Joplin Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1229 S Range Line.

While in route units observed heavy smoke showing from the USA Mattress building. The first fire crew arrived on scene at 7:00 PM. Crews extinguished the fire and overhauled the scene. Fire crews remained on scene until 8:58 PM.










There were no injuries to firefighting crews or civilians.

The Joplin Fire Department responded with 8 units and 20 personnel and was assisted by the Joplin Police Department and METS Ambulance Service.

The cause of fire was ruled accidental in nature.

(Editor's note: The fire caused that portion of Range Line to be closed for a couple of hours.)
