Microsurfacing work on Joplin city streets to begin next week

(From the City of Joplin)

The City’s micro-surfacing program for 2019 will begin next week. As micro-surfacing operations along city roads begin June 3, the City encourages citizens to watch for postings in their neighborhoods.

If your street will be affected by the micro-surfacing, the contractor, Vance Brothers, will notify residents along city streets with informational door hangers on their front doors. No parking signs will also be posted along both sides of the street, and at both ends of each block. These notifications should be completed within 48 hours prior to the work being started. It is important to ensure that vehicles are not parked on the posted streets until the surfacing work has been completed.

General area of work will include streets within the area of “F” Street to 16th Street from Main Street to Maiden Lane. Streets are selected based on the pavement’s condition. A map of the micro-surfacing area is posted on the City’s website for reference.

The first week of work will include the following streets, weather permitting.
North Jackson Avenue, from F Street to West 6th Street;
North Sergeant Avenue, from F Street to West 3rd Street;
North Pearl Avenue, from F Street to West 4th Street;
North Byers Avenue, from Glenview to West 6th Street;
North Moffet Avenue, from Glenview to West 6th Street;
South Moffet Avenue, from West 6th to West 16th Street.

The City will also post updates on its Facebook page and its website, www.joplinmo.org under Street Closure category. Please note work schedule may shift due to weather conditions. Completion of the micro-surfacing work is scheduled for the end of July, weather permitting.

The micro-surfacing project is funded by the Transportation Sales Tax.
