Freeman Health System has been awarded the Missouri Gold Level Workplace Wellness Award.

The Missouri Workplace Wellness Award is a collaboration between the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), Missouri Council for Activity and Nutrition (MOCAN) and the University of Missouri Extension.

The program increases awareness about the importance of worksite wellness for employees. The program also recognizes employers with policies supportive of employee health and wellness.

“We deeply believe in the importance of staff members maintaining a focus on their own physical and emotional wellness,” said Paula F. Baker, Freeman President and Chief Executive Officer. “The activities and initiatives our Prevention and Wellness team develops are creative, dynamic and constantly evolving to meet the needs of our staff.”

Employers that provide wellness accommodations report higher employee retention, lower absenteeism, higher morale, greater productivity, a safer work environment and reduced healthcare costs. Many studies have also shown improved employee job satisfaction.

WellBalance is the Freeman employee wellness program that promotes healthy lifestyles through free health screenings, fitness classes, and workshops and seminars on topics ranging from financial management to physical fitness and nutrition.
