Joplin woman injured in crash caused by deer on 43

A Joplin woman was injured in a one-vehicle crash 2 a.m. today on MO 43, a quarter of a mile north of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Janessa L. Lester, 23, Joplin, driving a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, swerved to avoid a deer, ran off the roadway and struck a road sign and several small trees.

Lester was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
