Carthage man who crashed into Boomer's BBQ and Catering during police pursuit, charged with DWI, assault

On 11/14/19 at approximately 2244 hours, an officer with the Carthage Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for suspicion of driving while intoxicated at 11th and Main Street.

The vehicle fled northbound through a residential area then westbound onto Central Avenue where the suspect lost control of his vehicle which overturned and crashed into a building (Boomer's  at 1123 W. Central causing substantial damage.

The suspect, Kem Brown, a 20-year-old white male from Carthage was arrested on scene.







A passenger in the vehicle was transported by EMS and remains in a Joplin Hospital with severe injuries.

Brown was arrested for resisting by fleeing, driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, minor in possession, assault 2nd and property damage 1st.

Charges have been submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor's Office.
