Mulberry teen killed, Pittsburg man flown to Freeman following rollover crash

One person was killed and two others injured in a one-vehicle crash 3:24 a.m. today on SW 60th Road, five miles south of Mindenmines.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2018 Subaru Outback driven by Austin P. Vander-Meer, 24, Pittsburg, Kansas, ran off the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.

Barton County Coroner Sarah Rutledge pronounced a passenger, Tristan R. Davis, 19, Mulberry, Kansas dead at the scene at 4:30 a.m.








Vander-Meer was airlifted to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, with serious injuries.

Another passenger, Kameron J. Reece, 21, Pittsburg, was treated for moderate injuries at Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg.

The fatality was the 69th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
