(From the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office)Today our agency mourns the loss of Sgt. Deb Brooks. Sgt. Brooks, or "Deputy Deb" as she was well known as, was the first certified law enforcement woman in Cherokee County, graduating from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in 1994.
Sgt. Brooks retired from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office in May 2016 following 27 years of service to the Cherokee County community.
Throughout her tenure, Sgt. Brooks impacted countless lives, particularly the children she worked with and mentored as a School Resource Officer with the Baxter Springs and Galena School Districts.
Our agency extends our sincerest thoughts and prayers to Sgt. Brooks' family and friends during this time of loss.
