(From the City of Joplin)Joplin Parks and Recreation, the City of Joplin, and Visit Joplin are continuing a new holiday tradition in Mercy Park.
The Holiday Tree Trail is a series of decorated trees from area businesses and organizations placed along a portion of the trail at Mercy Park. Trees will be lit from November 29 through December 31 and guests can view the trees during park hours (7 a.m. to 11 p.m.).
The Holiday Tree Trail will kick off with a special event on Tuesday, November 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Scheduled activities include the lighting of the 40 decorated trees along the park's walking trail, performances by Karen's Dance Studio students, hot cocoa and cookies, a special StoryWalk®, and a visit from Santa.
A tree decorating contest, sponsored by Texas Roadhouse, will take place from November 29 through December 21. Guests may walk the trail and vote for their favorite decorated tree. Contest winners will receive a trophy and catering package from Texas Roadhouse.

The Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Mercy, will be hosting the third annual Roll-n-Stroll Activity Challenge during the same time as the Holiday Tree Trail. There is no cost to participate in the challenge, however registration is required at www.joplinparks.org or by calling 417-625-4750.
