New MSSU online public relations degree to be featured on Newsmakers

(From KGCS)

Online classes became common during the pandemic and now students can earn complete degrees without leaving home. Missouri Southern State University has more than 25 majors, minors and certificates that can be earned through online classwork and now adds an Online Public Relations Degree to that list. This week’s Newsmakers will bring focus to online learning and tools for instructors.

Scott Snell, MSSU Director of Digital Learning explains how technology is impacting online education and a backpack of tech tools that allow instructors to better engage the online student. Diana Fordham explains how she works with students online. And former student, April Black shares how online classes offered both flexibility and accelerated classes that allowed her to graduate ahead of schedule. Public Relations Professors, Dr. Bryan Trude and Shanna Slavings discuss how the new PR online degree connects with various careers.

Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. the week of August 18 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, August 24 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS - Missouri Southern State University.

KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Optimum Internet in Carthage. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
