Narrowed lanes, traffic shift expected on Route 43 in Barton County

TRAFFIC ALERT: Expect Narrowed Lanes, Traffic Shift on Route 43 in Barton Co. Beginning Aug. 23

Where: Missouri Route 43 south of U.S. Route 160 in Barton County east of Mindenmines

When: Friday, August 23 until Friday, August 30

What: Contractor crews paving southbound shoulder, replacing permanent rumbles in northbound lanes








Traffic Impacts

North- and southbound Route 43 lanes narrowed to 10 feet from Route 160 south approximately 1,000 feet

Contractor crews strengthening and paving southbound shoulder

Once shoulder work is complete, southbound traffic will be shifted on to shoulder and northbound traffic shifted into southbound lane

During traffic shift, contractor will remove and replace permanent rumbles in northbound lane

Drivers urged to watch for crews and equipment working close to traffic

No signed detour

Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone








Drivers should find alternate routes

Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

This work is in preparation for a resurfacing project on Barton County Route NN in Liberal and Missouri Route 43 between Liberal and Joplin. That project is scheduled to start later this summer.
