Faulty electrical wiring causes fire at 1032 S. Connor Ave.

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a report from a passing Joplin Police Department officer of smoke coming from an attic at 1032 S Connor Ave, at 12:44 AM, Friday morning, 04 April, 2014. The JPD awakened the occupants to get them to evacuate. Fire Crews gained entry to the attic and found insulation smoldering due to electrical wiring. The fire was declared under control at 1:29 AM. Crews remained on scene until 2:21 AM. 

No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. 4 Joplin Fire units and 12 Joplin Fire personnel responded as well as JPD and METS. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the occupants.


Investigation found the cause to be faulty wiring.


The home owner is Janet Russell. Occupant names are not available at this time.
