Due to construction starting on the new end zone facility at Fred G. Hughes Stadium, parking lot No. 17 (located directly in front of the facility) will be offline for the next three months, Missouri Southern announced today.
The first part of construction that will happen is the site grading and the installation of a new sewer line. The new sewer line will be located in a green space that will be created by moving the west edge of parking Lot 17 (in front of the stadium) approximately 20 feet to the east.
In order to do this work, it is necessary for the school to block off all access to lot 17 for approximately three months. Campus Police will put up the barricades this evening (April 21) so this lot and the grass area north of the stadium will be closed to all parking until August.
Fans attending the softball double-header against Rogers State Tuesday (April 22) afternoon will not be affected.
For those attending the final two MSSU track meets at Fred G. Hughes (April 25 and May 9), the only parking for the event will be south of the stadium in Lot 18. Fans can enter the stadium through the normal entrance by walking up the road to the main entrance to the facility.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but it has to be done so the site work and the new utilities can be installed prior to the start of the fall semester and football season. Plans for a formal ground breaking will be released at a later date.
