Joplin's minor league baseball team has a new name.
The El Paso Diablos will be replaced by the Joplin Blasters, a name which pays homage to the city's mining history and even its minor league predecessor, the Miners.
The name was announced earlier today and was just presented to the Joplin City Council moments ago.
The Minors will be incorporated into promotions, the council was told.
