MSSU residence hall groundbreaking postponed until May 1

(From Southern News Service)

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new residence hall complex at Missouri Southern State University has been postponed until 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1.
The ceremony – which will take place at the north end of the Mills Anderson Justice Center parking lot – will include remarks from Interim President Dr. Alan Marble; Darren Fullerton, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management; and a student representative from the Residence Hall Association.
The three-story complex will feature 51 student apartments throughout six buildings, the vast majority of which will be four bedrooms. Each bedroom will have its own bathroom, and students will share a common living area and full kitchen. Each apartment will also have its own washer and dryer. The exterior of the complex will include an open courtyard and common areas, a pedestrian-friendly design and parking on the back side.
Joplin’s R.E. Smith will serve as the construction manager and contractor for the $14-million project.
