Wheaton man killed, Carl Junction, Granby men injured in two-vehicle crash

A Wheaton man was killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash 5:48 p.m. Thursday on MO 86, two miles south of Granby.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2011 Dodge 1500 driven by John A. Brewer, 20, Granby, ran a stop sign and struck a 2012 Toyota RAV4, driven by Michael R. Jarrett, 52, Carl Junction, on the driver's side. After impact, both vehicles traveled off the south side of MO 86, with the Jarrett vehicle overturning.

A passenger in the Jarrett vehicle, Keith D. Bryant, 63, Wheaton, was pronounced dead at the scene by Newton County Deputy Coroner Jerry Deems.

Brewer was treated for minor injuries at Freeman Neosho. Jarrett was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.

The fatality was the 58th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
