(From the City of Joplin)
The City of Joplin continues to look for new ways to better serve our citizens, and is seeking information about residents’ perspective on their news gathering behaviors regarding local issues through a survey in its October 2016 newsletter, The Citizen.
With various news sources in both traditional format and electronic editions, as well as social media sites, the public has numerous venues it can choose to get its local news. Survey questions ask residents about their news choices, as well as their reaction and reading habits of The Citizen, the City’s quarterly newsletter mailed to every residential household in Joplin.
The survey originally appeared on page seven (7) of the October 2016 edition of The Citizen newsletter that was recently mailed to residents. It also is available electronically by clicking on the link at the end of this article. Residents are encouraged to complete the survey. It taking the printed version, citizens should return it to the City via mail, fax or dropping it off in the Main Lobby on the first floor or at the Finance Department on the third floor. It can also be dropped in the City’s collection box on the west wall outside City Hall. The City is encouraging residents to respond by November 15, 2016.
Survey results will be reviewed to identify news preferences of the Joplin residential community in order to help develop priorities of communications efforts of the Public Information Office.
For more information about the survey, contact the Public Information Office at 624-0820, ext. 204.
