A variety of activities – from a 5k run to film screenings – are planned during Veterans Week at Missouri Southern State University.
A special Veterans Day ceremony will be held at noon Friday, Nov. 11, at the Freedom Flag Plaza.
Other campus events include a panel discussion on community interaction with police, screenings of “Pete’s Dragon” and the 2016 Miners Bowl.
Monday, Nov. 7
Veteran Appreciation Luncheon: Noon, Billingsly Student Center Ballroom. To RSVP, call 417-350-6491.
“Black Hawk Down”: 6:30 p.m., Phelps Theatre. The film will be screened as part of Veterans Week activities.
Tuesday, Nov. 8
Spirit Bingo: 12:20 p.m., Lions Den. Students can play for a chance to win some MOSO swag, courtesy of the Campus Activities Board.
Military Fitness Competition: 5:30 p.m., Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. Registration starts at 5 p.m.; entry fee is $10.
“The Hurt Locker”: 6:30 p.m., Phelps Theatre.
Women’s Basketball vs. Livin’ the Dream: 7 p.m., Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. Exhibition game.
Thursday, Nov. 10
Custom dog tags: 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. (or supplies run out), Billingsly Student Center. Students can put a favorite photo on a dog tag.
Strengthening Police and Community Relations and Interactions: Noon to 1 p.m., Mills Anderson Justice Center Auditorium. Panel discussion with area law-enforcement representatives; free and open to the public.
“Pete’s Dragon”: 2:30 and 6:30 p.m., Phelps Theatre. Free and open to the campus community.
Friday, Nov. 11
