MSSU activities for week of March 6

Southern Theatre will present “The Great Alphabet Adventure” at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 11-12, in Taylor Performing Arts Center at Missouri Southern State University.
The play tells the story of Alex, a boy who comes home from school excited to play video games when the power goes out. When the power goes out, Alex is sure he will die of boredom. Zora, the adventurous girl next door, discovers his old picture book is mysteriously blank. The two explore extraordinary hidden worlds as they begin a treasure hunt to find the missing letters and return them to the book.
Directed by Gerrie-Ellen Johnston, the cast includes Luke Bobbet, freshman, Joplin; Klaire Marie, sophomore, Joplin; Allison Dodge, freshman, Joplin; Joshua Lee Pruss, sophomore, Carthage; and Chelsie Jeffries, freshman, Webb City.
Tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for children ages 12 and under. The box office is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Other activities planned on campus include senior music recitals, Small Business Technology and Development workshops and screenings of the latest “Star Wars” film.
Tuesday, March 7
Cereal Day Bingo: 12:20 p.m., Lion’s Den. Students can celebrate National Cereal Day by playing bingo for a chance to win a box of their favorite cereal and a gift card. Presented by the Campus Activities Board.
Senior Clarinet Recital: 7:30 p.m., Webster Hall’s Corley Auditorium. Senior Paige Burris will perform.
Wednesday, March 8
Career Cram: Noon to 2 p.m., Connor Ballroom in Billingsly Student Center. Students can prepare for the upcoming Spring Career Fair by visiting stations offering help with resumes and cover letters, mock interviews and more.
Generational Marketing: 3 to 4:30 p.m., Plaster Hall. Participants will learn how to identify and reach their target market. Free. To register, contact the Small Business Technology and Development Center at 417-625-3128.
Thursday, March 9
Starting a Small Business-The First Steps: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Plaster Hall. Participants can assess their business idea, learn about planning, marketing strategies and more. Cost is $29 per business. Details: 417-625-3128.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”: 2:30 and 6:30 p.m., Phelps Theatre in Billingsly Student Center. Free and open to the campus community.
Senior Voice Recital: 7:30 p.m., Corley Auditorium. Music major Amanda Jones will perform.
