Joplin teen injured after steering locks causing pickup to crash into tree, power pole ground wire, fence

A Joplin teen was injured in one vehicle accident 2:50 p.m. today on West Junge Boulevard, one mile west of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Kaylah R. Maynard, 18, driving a 1997 Ford Ranger, lost control of the vehicle, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch. The vehicle overturned before hitting a tree, a power pole ground wire and a fence. Maynard told the Patrol the steering wheel locked and she could not control the vehicle.

Maynard was treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
