(From the Joplin Police Department)
DWI Arrests Overnight
Last night at about 9:30 p.m. we posted about our weekend and urged people to be safe on our roadways. We even said officers were out and our next DWI arrest would occur within a few hours. We made our intentions clear.
Forty-five minutes later at 10:15 p.m. our officers responded to 28th and Ohio. A very intoxicated 34-year-old male was arrested for driving while intoxicated, wrecking the vehicle and making a false report that the vehicle had been stolen.
Forty-five minutes after that at 11:29 p.m. one of our officers stopped a vehicle at Junge and Maiden Lane. A 29-year-old driver from Afton, Oklahoma, was arrested for DWI. He had a BAC of .206, or two and a half times the legal limit.
Every day people will drive when they shouldn't. Every day we will be looking for and arresting those people.
Don't be "that guy."
Earlier JPD post
It was a rough weekend on our streets for our community and our department.
1 fatality
5 critically injured
6 DWI arrests
Countless lives changed forever
Don't drink and drive. Plan ahead. Pay attention. Even as we post this our officers are looking for the next DWI arrest, and it will likely be within a few hours.
