Intoxicated bicyclist stopped by JPD turns out to be convicted murderer with gun in his pocket

On Friday night at 9:02 p.m. one of our officers saw a male riding a bike at 10th and Maiden Lane. As he crossed Maiden Lane, he nearly fell of his bike. 

The officer contacted him to make sure he was ok, and he fell off his bike into the dirt. The male was very intoxicated. 

The officer determined he had a revolver in his pocket, and that he was a convicted felon. He had convictions for manslaughter and for second degree murder. The 55-year-old Joplin resident was taken into custody for being a felon in possession of a fiream.
