Jasper Police Department makes meth arrest

(From the Jasper Police Department)

On Friday, December 29th, 2017 at 2:22 p.m., a Jasper checked on a suspicious vehicle, a dark colored Dodge truck occupied by two white males, parked behind Pete’s Convenience store.

Upon approach, the passenger, Charles Jackson, quickly removed his coat and placed in the backseat of the truck.

Due to the cold weather, the officer became suspicious that Jackson was attempting to hide/conceal contraband which may have been in the coat. Upon request, Jackson retrieved the coat from the back seat and placed it outside the truck on the bed.

The officer observed in plain view, a meth pipe and syringe which was in the inside pocket of the coat. The officer then observed a tin canister on the seat where Jackson was sitting. Jackson claimed the tin canister was his.

A search of the canister yielded a plastic baggy with “ice” (methamphetamine) inside.

Jackson was arrested and transported to the Jasper county jail and held on an investigative hold for possession of a controlled substance and poss of drug paraphernalia. A check of a Jackson through the database showed Jackson to have an active warrant for his arrest and that he was on probation for DWI.
