Interrupted drug deal at Dollar General parking lot on 15th results in felony arrest

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

Yesterday morning at 8:31 a.m. an officer saw what appeared to be a “hand to hand” drug deal at the Dollar General parking lot at 819 East 15th.

The officer was able to contact one vehicle, while the other half of the deal avoided contact. The officer located meth in the bed of the pickup where the males were standing during the drug deal.

A further search of the truck resulted in more meth being located in the cab, near the suspect. The male from that vehicle was arrested for felony drug crimes.

  1. I shop at this location and have seen suspicious behavior from people loitering outside the facility a couple of times. Most recently, a female walked up with a backback and another female who was waiting there on the lot with another occupant driving the car, made a hand-to-hand exchange by the southeast corner of the building. The passenger in the car got out and walked up to the other female started talking and handed her something small which appeared to be money folded up.
The other female took something out of her backback and gave it to the other woman who after a short conversation then took off on foot, walking west/southwest on 15th I am sure it was a drug drop.
