Route 66 resurfacing in Joplin to begin next week

Route 66 Resurfacing Project in Joplin
Scheduled to Start Week of May 28


Joplin – Drivers can expect one-lane traffic and occasional traffic delays when a project to resurface and add guardrail to Missouri Route 66 (7thStreet) in Joplin begins the week of May 28, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Route 66 will receive a new driving surface and new guardrail along a nearly three-mile stretch of the highway between Range Line Road and Missouri Route 249.

Work on this project is scheduled to done 7 p.m.-7 a.m., Tuesday, May 29 through Tuesday, June 5.

All lanes of traffic will be open during daytime hours.

Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the work zone.

Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.

Project Background
Prime Contractor: APAC-Central Inc., Fayetteville, Ark.
Completion Date: November 1, 2018 (However, the contractor expects to be finished in early June)
Construction Cost: $739,000
