Joplin Fire Department uses grant money to purchase advanced thermal imaging cameras

(From the Joplin Fire Department)

Today the most recent and advanced thermal imaging technology hit the streets. JFD purchased seven new FLIR K65 thermal imaging cameras through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant, to replace the current model that had been in service for 15 years plus.

This technology was originally sought to assist in search and rescue. With the advancement of this technology, we are able to do so much more. Over the past three days, your Joplin Firefighters attended awareness training on the new cameras. They will be provided advanced training through the remainder of the year.
