Joplin Public Library announces theme for summer reading program

(From the Joplin Public Library)

Young readers will explore all things musical this summer as the Rosemary Titus Reynolds Children’s Library at the Joplin Public Library presents “Libraries Rock” during this year's summer reading program. Activities will include storytelling, musical performances, musical crafts, STEAM activities, music-inspired story times, and more.

The Summer Reading Program in the Rosemary Titus Reynolds Children’s Library is open to young people from birth to sixth grade. Weekly programs are open to all and include Friday afternoon movies, award-winning storyteller Bobby Norfolk, flutist Mark Barger, and more, as well as regular weekly story times and monthly school-aged programs.

Teen readers looking opportunities will find them at the library! From fishing to tie-dye, from pizza to robots, the Teen Department will be the place to be for those entering 6th grade through high school!

Graduated high school but still looking for fun? Come sign up for a challenging read this summer and earn prizes along the way!

Programs for all ages will also be offered and include performances by Kufara Marimba band and JOMO Jazz. Programs are free of charge, and the full calendar of events is available at www.joplinpubliclibrary.org/calendar.

Registration for the “Libraries Rock” summer reading programs at the Joplin Public Library is available on the Joplin Public Library’s website, and in-person registration begins Tuesday, May 29th.
