Stormwater work to close streets west of Range Line, south of 20th beginning next week

(From the City of Joplin)

Due to stormwater work in the area, several streets in a neighborhood west of Range Line and south of 20th Street will be temporarily closed to through traffic. Local traffic will be allowed for residents living in the area.

Closures will begin at 6 a.m., Wednesday, May 30 and continue through 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 4. Closures will be from 20th Street to 24th Street for the following: Highview Avenue, Mississippi Avenue, and Alabama Avenue. Other closures will affect intersections of 22nd Street and Texas Avenue. There will also be barricades throughout the neighborhood to deter through traffic, but residents of this area will have access to their homes throughout this construction project.

This project is one of several in the area focused on the recovery work funded by HUD’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery program. With this grant funding, HUD also issues deadlines for work to be completed. Joplin’s recovery work is due to be completed by the latter part of 2019.

More information about this project, as well as all of the recovery projects, can be found at www.joplincdbgdrpublic.com
