Joplin Public Library (JPL) is excited to be a part of the largest global film festival during the week of September 22.
The opening reception and initial screening for The MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 26.
Repeat screenings will take place September 27 through October 5. Adults are encouraged to be a part of this free event in the library’s Community Room.
The MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival started in 1998 by Nick Mason when he played 16 short films to an audience of about 300 in New York. It now takes place in 400 venues across six continents for one week.
Each year, ten short films are selected and shown across the world. Audiences are asked to vote for the film they think is best. One World, One Week, One Festival - You Be the Judge!
“This is an amazing opportunity and we are happy that we can provide it for our community” said Adult Programming Coordinator, Evan Martin. “We really want to bring people to the library to watch these films and give them a chance to participate in something happening across the world.”
The library thanks the Post Art Library and the Jean, Jack, and Mildred Lemons Charitable Trust for their partnership in bringing this event to Joplin.
