Jasper County deputy shot north of Missouri Southern in Travis Acres area, suspect at large

Jasper County Sheriff's deputies are asking everyone to avoid the area of Travis Acres and Gerbitz Road where a deputy was shot just before 5 p.m. today during an investigation into leads on a stolen vehicle.

A suspect is in that area being hunted by the Sherifff's Office and other local law enforcement agencies The ares is about a mile from Fred Hughes Stadium at Missouri Southern State University.

The deputy was taken to a local hospital and his injuries do not appear to be life threatening, Sgt. Tim Williams told KOAM. The deputy's name has not been released.
