(From the Joplin Police Department)On September 8, 2020 at approximately 01:52 am the Joplin Police Department received multiple reports of gunshots in the area of 4th and Brownell Avenue.
Officers responded and located an adult male with a gunshot wound. Officers provided first aid on scene and he was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
He has been identified as Timothy J. Shorter, age 41, of Carthage, Missouri and he is currently listed in critical condition.
The person who shot Shorter was contacted on scene and Detectives are not currently seeking any other involved individuals and there is no active threat to the community related to this incident. No arrest or charges have been made at this time.
The investigation is ongoing and any further updates will be released when they become available.
