(From the Joplin Fire Department)On Friday, December 04, 2020, at 11:26 PM, the Joplin Fire Department responded to a report of a fully involved structure fire at 2028 S Pearl Ave.
The first crew arrived at 11:32 PM to find a one-story wood framed structure with heavy smoke coming from the attic and front of the residence.
Crews attacked the fire, extinguished it and then checked for any fire extension. Crews remained on scene until 0:50 AM, 05 December.
The Joplin Fire Department responded with 6 units and 18 personnel. The Fire Department was assisted by METS Ambulance Service and the Joplin Police Department. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighting personnel.
The cause of the fire was ruled as improper use of a candle.
