Newsmakers Classics to begin airing on KGCS

(From Southern News Service)

A new year begins with a trip down memory lane on KGCS-TV, as the long-running “Newsmakers” television series brings “Newsmakers Classics” to the local airwaves.

The shows, produced and hosted by station general manager Judy Stiles - who is retiring after almost 35 years at the university – takes a look at some of the unique slices of Joplin area history, and features interviews with the likes of Gene Taylor, Richard Webster and actor and MSSU alumnus Dennis Weaver.

“Newsmakers Classics” will begin airing weeknights at 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. the week of January 3 – as well as Saturday, January 9 at 5:30 a.m. on KOAM-TV.

KGCS programing can be seen on channel 21, and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
