Neosho woman cited for DWI after driving into pond with baby in car


A Neosho woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated and felony endangering the welfare of a child following a one-vehicle accident 9:37 p.m. Sunday on Quince Road, one mile south of Seneca.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Niccara L. Varela, 30, Neosho, traveled off the right side of the roadway, through a fence and vaulted into a pond where it submerged.







Varela and a passenger, an infant girl, were treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

In addition to DWI and endangering the welfare of a child, Varela was cited for careless and imprudent driving involving a crash and failure to display valid plates.
