(From the Sarcoxie Police Department)On 12-11-20, a black SUV, was a suspect in an armed robbery in Miami, Oklahoma. A Newton County deputy located the vehicle traveling north on MO-43, they then got on I-44 east where the pursuit started and reported shots were fired at pursuing law enforcement. Speeds were up to 115 miles an hour.
Officer Sweet successfully spiked the vehicle at Exit 26 east of the bridge. He was able to spike a right front tire. The vehicle was able to travel for another two miles and stopped and there was a short stand off and the driver, Gabriela Espinoza and passenger, Daniel M. Duran were taken into custody.
Also in the vehicle were two young children who were uninjured, even with the gunfire coming from within the vehicle.
Jasper County Children’s Division responded and took custody of the children.
No law enforcement were injured. No civilians were injured in the Armed Robbery or in the pursuit.
Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies led the pursuit.
