Joplin city offices to be closed for holidays, changes made in trash pickup schedule

(From the City of Joplin)

In recognition of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, the City of Joplin offices will be closed on Friday, December 25 and Friday, January 1. This closing includes the Joplin Recycling Center, MAPS and the Sunshine Lamp Trolley services.

Public safety services (Police and Fire Departments), airport operations, and wastewater treatment operations will continue to operate throughout the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, as these departments run 24/7 throughout the year.

Recycling Center will resume their normal schedule on Saturday, December 26 and Saturday, January 2, 2021.

City offices, MAPS and the Sunshine Lamp Trolley services will be open and resume their normal operating hours on both Monday, December 28 and Monday, January 4, 2021.

In addition, during these two holiday weeks, residential trash and curbside recycling services will move one day forward following each holiday. Since both holidays fall on Friday, Friday customers will have service on Saturday for those two weeks. Other customers will be serviced on their regular pick-up days.
