(From the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office)Arrests made this week link two additional people to the December 14th burglary of a Lowell home, where suspects initially fled from law enforcement.
Following an hours long manhunt, which included the use of K9 tracking teams and an aircraft from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Kevin Lee Hanten, Joplin, was apprehended Monday afternoon and transported to the Cherokee County Jail on a variety of charges including Aggravated Burglary, Obstruction of Justice and outstanding felony warrants from Missouri.
Later in the week, a deputy patrolling the area stopped a Chevy Blazer just after 3:00 a.m. on Thursday morning and arrested 38 year-old Cory August Hirdler and 41 year-old Brandy Montez Bates, both of Seneca, when the trailer they were hauling was discovered stolen out of Southwest Missouri. In addition to the trailer, law enforcement recovered items stolen during Monday's burglary.
On Friday, Sheriff's Investigators executed a search warrant at 8376 Southeast 72nd, where additional stolen property including a vehicle previously reported stolen out of Oklahoma, along with suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also discovered and seized.
