MSSU Drumline performs at KC Royals' World Series Parade

(From Southern News Service)

When the Kansas City Royals celebrated their World Series victory with a parade today, the 20 members of the Missouri Southern drumline helped entertain the crowds along the route.
The Royals clinched the championship with a 7-2 win over the New York Mets during Game 5 of the series Sunday evening in New York. It marks the team’s first World Series win in 30 years.
Last month, the drumline helped to energize fans when it performed before and during the American League Division Series. Due to scheduling conflicts, students weren’t able to travel to Kauffman Stadium for the World Series, but the invitation to perform during the parade was made over the weekend, said Brian Fronzaglia, director of athletic bands.
“I got an email about it mid-game on Saturday,” he said. “Plans were already in the works. They just had a feeling it was going to happen.”
The Royal Celebration has been planned by the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission, representatives from the city and the Kansas City Royals.
