Football 101 event at MSSU to benefit Breast Cancer Foundation

(From Southern News Service)

The inaugural Denver’s Dolls and Divas Football 101 event will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, in the North End Zone Facility at Missouri Southern State University.

The clinic – led by head football coach Denver Johnson, his coaching staff and players – is designed to provide women with the opportunity to learn more about Missouri Southern Lion football in a fun environment. The Hope 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation will also be on hand to educate and provide important information about breast cancer.

Each participant will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and more. They will also get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of North End Zone Facility, which opened in 2015. Those attending should plan to wear athletic clothing for light field activities. All fitness levels are welcome.

“This will be a fun evening of football and fundraising for an important cause,” said Johnson. “I hope this can grow into an annual event that promotes our football program here at Missouri Southern while also raising awareness and funds for an important women’s health issue.”

Registration is $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Payment can be made in advance by sending a check to the Missouri Southern Foundation, Attn: Football 101, 3950 E. Newman Rd., Joplin, MO 64801 or by credit card at http://www.mssu.edu/advancement/giving//give-now.php. Payment can also be made the night of football 101 with advanced registration.

Proceeds will benefit the Hope 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation and the MSSU Football program.
